If you have trouble accessing this document, please contact the Department to request a copy in a format you can use.

Social Security Law recognises a Participant may experience circumstances that make it unreasonable for them to continue participating in ParentsNext for a period. This Guideline sets out the Exemptions available to Compulsory Participants and Providers’ requirements in granting Exemptions consistent with Social Security Law.

This Guideline explains:

  • Providers’ requirements when considering, granting and documenting Exemptions
  • the circumstances in which a Participant may be granted an Exemption
  • Providers’ requirements during and after a Participant’s Suspension period.
