1. Do you consider that occupations need to be added to the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)?

Yes

What occupations should be added to the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)?

Please also include occupations that you propose should be moved from the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) to the MLTSSL.

Please outline the evidence or data that would support these occupations being added to the MLTSSL.

As an industry, recruitment has relatively low barriers to entry for small business. For boutique agencies who aren't backed by huge global structure and funding, it is essential that the focus is on quality employees.

As a business owner, recruiting for my team of 11, I have found it extremely hard to find local candidates for our open positions. It is obviously our first point of call to target locals but this hasn't worked so far and we have relied on hiring from overseas.

I am from overseas, and went through the 457/ PR path with my old agency and now am an Australian citizen running a mulitmillion dollar boutique recruitment business of eleven, promoting high service levels and ethical behaviors within the industry. Without the sponsorship path, I would not be in this position.

I think this would massively impact the industry and will see an extreme skills shortage and I strongly feel that this shouldn't go ahead.

3. Do you consider that occupations need to be removed from the Medium and Long Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSSL) or the Short Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL)?

No
