Please also include occupations that you propose should be moved from the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) to the MLTSSL.

Please outline the evidence or data that would support these occupations being added to the MLTSSL.

Recent changes across the mining services sector has resulted in improved market conditions. These improved conditions have given rise to an increased level of demand throughout the industry. This increase in demand has resulted in a need for additional qualified Drillers.

Many publicly available reports confirm that the occupation of 'Driller' is reported to be one of the occupations that is most in demand and is at severe risk of shortage throughout the resources sector.

A report submitted by the Skills DMC (Australian Government) advised that by the end of the decade, critical shortfalls were projected for occupations including Drillers, Miners and other support roles to meet the continuously growing needs of the mining industry.
