1. Do you consider that occupations need to be added to the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)?

Yes

What occupations should be added to the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)?

Please also include occupations that you propose should be moved from the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) to the MLTSSL.

312112 Building Associate

Please outline the evidence or data that would support these occupations being added to the MLTSSL.

We are a specialist niche industry performing building maintenance and repair works to high rise buildings, using Industrial Rope Access Techniques. Recruitment of suitable supervisors is very difficult as this type of work requires a particular combination of skill sets including, leadership, safety management, trade, rope access qualifications and above all, demonstrated experience. Whilst we endeavour to recruit resident personnel, it is not always possible as this industry is still relativley young in global terms, thus suitably experienced resident personnel are in short supply. By recruiting experienced non-resident personnel we are able to change this scenario by
a) performing the works safely as per our Safety Policy
b) providing on the job training and experience to resident personnel such that they too can achieve the necessary experience by working alongside suitably qualified leaders, thereby providing more opportunities to promote resident personnel and reducing the long term need for non-resident personnel

2. Do you consider that occupations need to be added to the Short Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL)?

No

3. Do you consider that occupations need to be removed from the Medium and Long Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSSL) or the Short Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL)?

No
