1. Do you consider that occupations need to be added to the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)?

Yes

What occupations should be added to the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)?

Please also include occupations that you propose should be moved from the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) to the MLTSSL.

131114 Public Relations Manager

Please outline the evidence or data that would support these occupations being added to the MLTSSL.

Market Research Analyst
From our experience of hiring for our Research Business, we know this industry in particular suffers extreme shortages of local talent and whilst it is always our first position to hire locally, often we find that the talent simply is not available throughout Australia. This has the potential to place significant stress on our business if we cannot secure the talent needed to support the needs of our clients, which are Australian owned/operated businesses. With there only being one specific Market Research occupation, it's removal has seen the entire industry effectively removed. We strongly urge you to add this back on to either list.

Public Relations Manager
Public Relations is facing significant skills shortages in the local market and securing Australian talent at the Public Relations Manager level is presenting difficulties across our businesses. Recruitment is always conducted in the local market and where local talent is available that would always be our first preference, however where that is not possible the ability to look elsewhere is valuable to the ongoing success of the business and in meeting client demands. We strongly urge you to add this back on to either list.
